Comparing brick tiles on a board
Tile showrooms put samples on a board for a reason: a tile seen alone in a box tells you little about how it will look next to another. Seeing two reds together shows which one leans orange and which one leans brown.
Grout changes the picture too. A light grey joint makes each brick stand out; charcoal pulls the wall together and makes it look darker overall; cream suits warm terracotta tiles and older-looking walls.
Screens shift colour, so treat the board as a shortlist, not a final choice. When you are down to two or three tiles, order them as a sample box and hold them against the wall.
